SDP, only beautiful bride, says Rivers senatorial candidate

The Senatorial Candidate for the Rivers West Senatorial District under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Dighobo Obaghama has stated that his party, the SDP is the only beautiful bride in the state.

He added that the Social Democratic Party in the state is currently the most credible and viable option opened for Rivers people to actualize the lofty dreams of the founding fathers of the state and to correct the ills of the present government in the state.

The senatorial candidate who made the assertion in an exclusive chat with our Correspondent on Sunday in Port Harcourt, capital of the state, also pointed out that with the imminent demise of the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Rivers people have now weighed into the fact that the next credible alternative for them in the forthcoming general elections is the SDP.

According to him, people from other parties have been defecting to the SDP in droves in the state and that the number of inquiries about the party has been on the increase in recent days because of “our credible candidates who were carefully elected to balance the political equation in the state.”

On why he is seeking the mandate of his people to represent them in the national assembly, he said he wants to change the current narrative in the red chamber whereby a lot of precious man hours are lost by unnecessary probes and investigations, rather than the quality lawmaking they were elected to do.

“If by the Grace of God I’m elected, when I get there I’m going to bring back our district to reckoning. I’m not going to be a bench warmer; I’m going to have good relationship with the governor that would be elected;

have good relationship with the President that would be elected and leadership of the national Assembly. I’ve planned an unprecedented constituency projects for the District,” he stated.

He went on, “I intends to propose a motion that will reduce the cost of governance. The cost of governance is very heavy.

People spend so much money to govern people, it ought not be so. My first six months, I’ll propose a motion that will reduce the cost of governance so that the funds meant for Government Houses will not be so voluminous.

“I’ll also propose a bill that will turn this country into a basket one and we’ll not rely so much on oil again.

I’ll further propose a Bill that will solve the perennial flooding in the country and another one that will establish Research and Development (R & D) Departments in all the local government areas across the country.”
