Saraki, Wike, others storm Ilorin, strategise ahead of 2019

…Fidau prayer of Baraje’s mother attracts heavyweight politicians
Though the event of Wednesday, Fidau prayer, was meant to offer prayers for the repose of the late Hajia Ayisat Omo Agba Baraje, mother of former National Chairman of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, the solemn event turned out as a gathering of heavyweight politicians to strategise about the 2019 general election.

To this effect, the Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday, led the pack of top politicians in the country that converged in Ilorin, Kwara State capital for the fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of Baraje’s mother, the late Hajia Ayisat Omo Agba Baraje.

The Senate President arrived the Baraje family residence in Ilorin, venue of the prayer in company of Governors Abdulfatah Ahmed and Samuel Ortom of Kwara and Benue states respectively, and they were later joined by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Other political heavyweights that graced the event include former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, the Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North, Lawan Shuaib and his southern counterpart, Niyi Adebayo,

Senators Barnabas Gemade, Sha’aba Lafiagi, Peter Nwaoboshi, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, representatives of the Emir of Ilorin, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, members of the Kwankwansiya movement in the state and former presidential spokesman, Dr. Doyin Okupe.

Feelers gathered by our correspondent who attended the event indicate that the political gladiators used the opportunity of the fidau prayer to meet and strategise ahead of the 2019 general polls.

Speaking in his sermon at the occasion, the grand Mukadam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Sulaiman Dan Borno, called on believers to be steadfast and perform good deeds at all times, saying that whatever one does in this life has its rewards.

The cleric, who, particularly, directed his sermon to women, urged them to be virtuous and submissive to their husbands for their children to be responsible and successful in life.

“God bestows successful children on virtuous wives and mothers. Virtuous woman bear responsible children. Every man with a good wife is blessed with all blessings of Allah,” he said, adding that the late Hajia Baraje was a dutiful, responsible and glorious mother and wife.

“Women who inflict pain, trouble, lack of rest of mind on their husbands may not attract blessings of Allah. Also, all those people who are not good to children of other people should know that their own children may suffer,” he added.
