Sani-Bello assures women of more representation in government

Saka Bolaji, Minna
The Niger state government has restated the administration’s resolve to encourage greater representation of women as a demonstration of its commitment to good governance and gender sensitivity.
Governor Abubakar Sani -Bello made this assertion when he received a delegation from Agaie Emirate at his residence in Minna, who were on a thank you visit following the appointment of the first female head of service from the emirate since the creation of the state in 1976.
He said the appointment of Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar as the head of service was on merit as she was meticulously selected by a committee mandated to do so.
The governor noted that as the first female head of service in the history of the state, it was incumbent upon her to excellently discharge her responsibilities and be a good ambassador of the womenfolk.
He urged the delegation, the entire people of Agaie and indeed, all Niger citizens to support the new head of service by offering meaningful advice that will contribute to an enduring effort to reposition the state’s civil service.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu appreciated Gov. Sani -Bello for appointing a daughter of his emirate as the new head of service.
The emir stated that the appointment of Hajiya Abubakar represents a watershed in the history of the state and demonstrates the governor’s genuine desire to put the state civil service back on track towards the rapid transformation of the state.
He thanked Gov. Sani Bello for his fairness in the political equation of the state and assured him of his people’s loyalty and support to the government at all times.
