Salvador remains, authentic Lagos PDP chairman, says Bode George

A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has said that Moshood Salvador remains the legally recognised chairman of the party in Lagos State by the national executive committee of the party, stressing that Salvador was duly elected in a state congress supervised by the national leadership of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

George who is the leader of the party in the state, stated this at the Lagos State police headquarter GRA, Ikeja, while speaking with newsmen, after being presented with the party secretariat office keys by the state police command.

Recall that the state Police Command had locked the party secretariat after the Segun Adewale, Sheriff backed executive refused to vacate the premises, after the Supreme Court judgement which re-affirmed Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the duly recognised leader of the party.

He stated that there was no crisis in the party in Lagos State, noting that the national leadership do not recognise any other executive of the party except the one led by Moshood Salvador.
The party leader stressed that it was only Oyo State in the South West region that was listed as the state without a congress, he added that the national leadership was up to its duties and had instituted a committee to resolve all aggrieved issues.

He said: “It is not true, PDP in Lagos State is not in crisis, the national secretariat is alive to it duties, I must say there is only one exco in Lagos State based on the meeting we had, Lagos was not listed as a state without a congress, it is only Oyo State that was listed.

“We must thank the police people for being civil, I told my people not to engage in trouble because I did not want break down of law and order and you can see we have the key to our secretariat,” Bode George said.

Bode George, who was dangling a letter form the party national secretariat, said he was duly authorised by the national leadership to collect the key of the state party secretariat and hand it over to the Salvador led state executive, adding that the party would not tolerate any group to violate it directive in the state.

Also speaking the party chairman Moshood Salvador said the supreme Court judgment had clarify who was the authentic chairman of the party in the state,adding that the national leadership has Institute a reconciliatory committee to bring all agrived individuals on board.

He said” The supreme court judgement judgement was based on the constitution of our party and I have always been recognized as the chairman of the party. A reconciliatory committee have bee put in place everybody would be brought on board”. Salvador said.
