Salon owner drugs baroness jailed for 8 years

Leanne Duffin used her business as a front while selling cocaine in Chorley, South Ribble and Preston in Lancashire. The ringleader of a drug dealing gang, the 31-year-old believed she was ‘untouchable’ and ‘drove around in expensive cars’ while living ‘the life of a successful businesswoman’, police said.

According to agency report, Duffin, of Wigan, Lancashire, was finally caught and arrested in May 2017 following a covert operation by Chorley and South Ribble police officers. Chief inspector Mike Adamson said: ‘Her tanning salon was essentially a front.

She was living the life of a successful businesswoman but she will be left with nothing. ‘A lot of people knew what was going on, she was driving around in very expensive cars. ‘She was also exploiting vulnerable young people who were using drugs, allowing them to build up debts and then forcing them to sell drugs to pay their debts off.’

Duffin, who ran Cosmopolitan Suntan Salon, lured vulnerable young people into addiction before forcing them to become drug dealers to pay off their debt, a court heard.

She pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs, and was jailed alongside other members of the drugs gang. Her father Brian Duffin, 66, also from Wigan, admitted the same charges and was jailed for six years.
