Rotary donates eight wheel chairs to physically challenge

The Rotary Club of Jos, otherwise known as Rotary Club of Naraguta, in its bid to assist the down trodden, has donated eight wheel chairs to eight physically challenged person in Jos north area of Plateau State.
The benefited persons where drown from Islamiya primary school, located at Bauchi road in Jos north where four physically challenged teenagers went home with one while chair each and four physically challenged adults seeking to further their studies.
Speaking at the weekend, during the presentation, the newly emerged president of Naraguta club, Ms Theresa Eyetan, said more effort will be channelled towards assisting the disabled in achieving their dreams.
According to her, “the wheel chairs are not given to disables who will go out there on the street to beg for arms, but for those who will use it to aid easy access to school”.
She said during her rain as the new president, she will mobilise her team to also organise a skill acquisition programme for widows, unemployed youths and would distribute birth-kits and mosquito treated nets amongst others.
“These projects are parts of the activities lined up to mark the rotary year which began on 1st July 2017.
“This Rotary year, we intend to embark on these projects of skill acquisition programmes for widows, unemployed youths, support the eradication of polio and distribute birth kits.
“We would also distribute mosquito treated nets, donate furniture and educational materials to public schools and organise a youth seminar on conflict prevention and resolution”, she said.
Eyetan who is the 33rd President of the club, said that the projects were also in line with its 2017 theme ‘making a difference’.
She explained that the tradition of making payment for good will messages and registration fee at functions was to raise funds for humanitarian projects to accelerate development.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr Lucky Momoh, the Past Assistant Governor of Rotary club District 9125 said the Rotary is an all inclusive organisation where women have occupied leadership positions.
Momoh, who is also the chairman of the installation committee, implored the society to partner with Rotary to augment government efforts for a better society.
Daily Times reports that the Rotary club of Naraguta had earlier organised a dental outreach for 300 children in a public school.
