Rotary District 9142 Governor vows to kick out Polio in Nigeria

The new District Governor of District 9124, Rotary International, Dr. Emma Udeakpe, has restated the commitment of club and the district in particular to finally kick out polio in the world.

Udeakpe, who made the promise at Awka during media briefing ahead of his inauguration last Saturday, said the club was almost completing total elimination of Polio in the world except three countries which included Nigeria.

He said Rotary was focusing on elimination of polio because it is a crippling disease that affect children but only a drop of vaccine which cost N300 will chase it out in a child.
Udeakpe said the Rotary Club has donated a 40ft container load of books to Prof. Kenneth Dike Library in Awka in honour of the foremost academic who was the first Vice-Chancellor of University of Ibadan.

Udeakpe, a pharmacist and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Road Transportation, Anambra State, said Rotary International as service driven organisation, intervenes in virtually every aspect of life, including provision of water, healthcare delivery, environmental concern among others.
