Rohr to unleash ‘mystery striker’ for AFCON qualifier

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has said he plans to call up a Nigerian-German striker for a 2019 AFCON qualifier in March.

Rohr said he has followed the striker, but would rather not reveal his identity yet.

“I will look at another Nigerian-German player who I discovered. I think we can see him in the next game in March,” he said.

“There is also the young Victor Osimhen, who from January 1 can now play professionally for Wolfsburg. I will look at him.

“We have a good competition among the strikers in the team.”

Rohr has been scouting Europe for top players with Nigerian root for the Super Eagles.

He had earlier penciled down Tyronne Ebuehi, who was born in Holland to a Nigerian father, but the ADO Den Haag defender later declined a call-up to the Super Eagles even after several assurances.
