Rohr bows to pressure to call up NPFL stars for AFCON showdown in South Africa

Gernot Rohr appears to have finally bowed to pressure from his bosses and will as a result call up a handful of players from the NPFL for next month’s AFCON qualifier against South Africa, officials have told SCORE Nigeria
The Eagles face Bafana Bafana on November 17 in Johannesburg and three days later they are billed to take on Uganda in a friendly.
This past week, Rohr again dismissed the chances of players from the domestic league making his squad when he told SCORENigeria he did not see a player from the Aiteo Cup Final in Asaba he could call up.
He has insisted the country’s best players play their football in Europe and despite the high costs of flying them down for international matches, it was worth the all the trouble.
For the George Weah testimonial recently, Sunday Adetunji, Mfon Udoh (Enyimba), Ebube Duru (Lobi Stars) and Olamilekan Adeleye (FC Ifeanyiubah) were invited by the Eagles.
Media reports have suggested that a quota of the the Eagles call-ups will now have to come from the NPFL.
The reports have not been denied by the NFF.
