RIVERS RUN: INEC ASSURES OF FREE AND FAIR POLLS

The Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman, Mahamod Yakub has assured of the commission’s readiness to conduct free and fair election in Rivers state legislative rerun elections slated for December tenth. Speaking with State House Correspondent after the swearing-in of the Commission’s Commissioners by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

Days to the Legislative rerun elections in Rivers state, political gladiators have been accusing one and other of plans to rig the election. Speaking after the swearing in of new six Commissioners, the INEC Chairman maintains that the Electoral Umpire is committed to conducting free and fair polls in Rivers state.

Yakub also denies allegation of engaging those with partisan interests as returning officers for the rerun election. The Electoral Chief says investigation is ongoing to unravel those behind the printing of fake sensitive electoral materials in Rivers state.
