Rivers debunks rumours on exhuming corpse of Asari Toru LG boss

The Rivers state government has debunked rumours making the rounds that the body of the late Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Odiari Princewill, has been exhumed from the Port Harcourt Cemetery, describing it as baseless and untrue.

A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Paulinus Nsirim, and circulated in Port Harcourt, Saturday, said that the grave where the deceased was interred was still intact as no one had tampered with it.
The state government therefore, warned families, friends and relations who may want to desecrate the grave of the deceased that the full weight of the law would be visited on them.
The government informed that security agencies had consequently, been placed on red alert to ensure that only authorized persons come near the Port Harcourt Cemetery.
Bauchi to recover funds paid for unexecuted projects
According to the government statement, any unauthorized person found around the cemetery would be arrested and prosecuted.
Lately, reports have been making the rounds that the body of the late Asari Toru Local Government chairman, who died Wednesday of complications from COVID-19 had been exhumed by unknown gunmen.
