Rivers Crisis: PDP Intervenes, calls for truce
…Govs Forum alarmed, welcomes Fubara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has waded into the crisis between the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and the Federal Capital territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike.
Two organs of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) and the PDP Governors Forum separately on Tuesday called for truce.
The National Working Committee (NWC) called on all actors in the political crisis to sheathe their swords and allow for peaceful and amicable resolution of all the issues.
The NWC assured that it has commenced processes, using the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to ensure that all matters and areas of disagreement are addressed.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party, therefore, charged all leaders, critical stakeholders and PDP members in Rivers State to close ranks, unite and focus on the onerous task of governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.

The NWC further urged all PDP members and supporters of the principal actors in the feud to be calm and law abiding.
The PDP Governors Forum at a meeting late Tuesday evening at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge, in Abuja commended President Bola Tinubu for intervening by inviting both Gov. Fubara and Wike.
In a communique read at the end of the meeting by the governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, the governors deliberated on the Rovers crisis with Gov. Fubara in attendance for the first time since his inauguration.
“The PDP Governors were alarmed at the recent developments in Rivers State and welcomes the intervention of Mr. President to bring the crises to an end.
” The meeting urged all parties to the Rivers State crises to sheath their sword and resort to peaceful means of resolution.
“The Forum further offers its platform for a quick and just containment of the issues involved.”
On the recent judgement of the Supreme Court on the 2023 Presidential Election the Forum re-stated it’s faith and confidence in the judiciary to do justice in political and other cases before the Courts.
“We are concerned that while the Supreme Court has laid down precedents on pre-election issues, PDP candidates in Plateau State are being disqualified on the same grounds.
“We urge the judiciary at the apex level to ensure that our jurisprudence is not distorted. We remain vigilant in the struggle for democracy and good governance in the country.”
While on the national economy, the meeting urgently requested the patriotic intervention of the Federal Government to stabilize the Naira, control inflation, stem the unemployment crises, and bring more succour to Nigerians.
The governor’s vowed to reposition and strengthen PDP as a viable opposition political party ready and willing to play its role as the vanguard of the Nigerian people for democracy, good governance and accountability.
Those in attendance were: Gov. Bala Mohammed, CON-Bauchi State -Chairman Gov. Siminalayi Fubara – Rivers State – Vice Chairman, Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri -Adamawa State , Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori -Delta State , Gov. Ifeanyi Ossai – Deputy Gov. Enugu State, Gov. Ademola Adeleke -Osun State and Gov. Seyi Makinde – Oyo State.
Other were; Gov. Caleb Mutfwang – Plateau State , Gov. Godwin Obaseki- Edo State, Gov. Kefas Agbu -Taraba State and Gov. Dauda Lawal -Zamfara State.
