The Rivers State House of Assembly has announced the immediate suspension of the Care Taker Committee Chairmen of Asari-Toru, Ahoada East and Khana Local Councils, over issues bothering on insecurity and financial mismanagement.
The announcement of the state house of assembly is coming less than 48 hours after some aggrieved members of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State from Asari-Toru and some local councils staged a protest against the outcome of the party’s primaries.
Declaring the suspension, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Honourable Liyel Kwane, who presided over the Assembly insisted that they were not witch-hunting anyone.
The house also summoned five commissioners, including the Commissioner of Finance, Chamberlain Peterside and that of Information, Ibim Sementari, to appear before it to explain why pensioners and workers in the state have not paid for the past six months.
