Rite Foods Invests In Energy Tech to Cut Emissions, Safeguard Environment

Rite Foods Limited has intensified its investment in energy technology to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions across its operations, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable manufacturing and environmental protection.
The company pledged during a news conference at its Energy Centre in Ososa, Ogun State, to mark this year’s World Ozone Day.
General Manager, Operations, Olufemi Ajileye, said Rite Foods continues to raise the bar in sustainability by deploying world-class processes that conserve energy, reduce carbon intensity, and protect the ozone layer.
“Our factory runs on fully automated systems, renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies, and carbon-free infrastructure designed to safeguard both the environment and product quality,” Ajileye said.
He added that the company’s cooling plant is equipped with advanced safety systems to prevent ammonia leaks, guaranteeing zero harmful emissions.
Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Ekuma Eze, said sustainability was built into the design of the company’s production facility, with a unique energy mix comprising 92 per cent gas, 6.5 per cent diesel, and 1.5 per cent solar
He noted that this approach has positioned Rite Foods as one of the lowest carbon emitters in the sector.
According to him, the company’s carbon intensity stands below 800gCO₂/lpb, far lower than the industry average of 1,300–2,500 gCO₂/lpb, demonstrating its clear edge in adopting clean energy and emission-cutting technologies.
Beyond operations, Rite Foods also drives ecological sustainability through its corporate social responsibility initiatives under the EYEC framework—Education, Youth Empowerment, Environmental Stewardship, and Community Development.
Its flagship programme, RiteOnTheBeach, has advanced conservation efforts along Lagos’ coastal communities, underscoring its broader commitment to environmental stewardship.
