Resurgence of Violence Amongst Youth worrisome- Prof Malami

A Bauchi state philanthropist, Professor Sani Abubakar Malami, has expressed concerns over the resurgence of urban violence amongst youths in Bauchi state.
Malami who described the situation as taking the hands of the clock of development in the state backward, expressed the fears Sunday, while interacting with journalists at his residence in Bauchi.
“I am saddened by news of the resurgence of urban violence again in the state capital, which is going to compound our challenges as a State that pride itself as the most peaceful in the North East region”.
He appealed to all patriotic citizens of the state to come together and nip the ugly trend in the bud before it degenerates into what the state experienced some years back when the dreaded Sara-Suka thugs held sway.
“We need to work to combat poverty, hunger and diseases, as well as provide people with more economic opportunities that would improve their standard of living”.
He also said that his foundation, the Sani Malami Center for Development is always on the vanguard in the area of capacity building for youths and the less privileged in the community, maintaining that , “our door is always open for positive collaboration with like minds”.
Malami commended security personnel for their proactive measures towards mitigating the resurgence of urban violence and also encourage the general public to always assist security apparatus through information sharing.
