Reps hold valedictory session for Edo Deputy Governor-elect.

Members of the House of Representatives yesterday dedicated part of its plenary proceedings to eulogizing one of their own, Hon. Philip Shuaibu, who will be sworn in as Deputy Governor of Edo State on Saturday, November 12.
Capping the speeches,by different members at a valedictory session organised in honour of the member representing Etsakor West/Central/North Federal Constituency, Edo State, Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, charged the lawmaker to be a good ambassador of the House and strive not to bring shame to the Green Chambers in the discharge of his duties in his new assignment.
“All has been said, we are sending you as an ambassador not only of the House of Representatives but the entire National Assembly. Do all you can not to bring dishonour to this institution.”
“Your contributions on the floor of this House has been very robust, you will excel as a man of character, and you will be running the race in your new assignment among a crowd of witnesses and wish you good sail,” the Speaker said.
Speaking earlier, the member representing Ikpoba Okhai/Egoh Federal constituency, Edo state, Johnson Agbonayinman, disclosed that the Deputy Governor-elect made it possible for him to be made a Senior Adviser to Governor Adams Oshimhole on his return from the United states.
According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker; “This is the day God has made, my dear friend and colleague, Philip Shuaibu have come a long way. This young man is a force and I must confess that I became a Senior Adviser to Comrade Governor Adams Oshiomhole courtesy of him. I may not be at his inauguration in Edo State, but we are one in Edo State despite belonging to different political parties”
Hon. Peter Akpatason told the House that he was inspired to leave labour organization and join politics because “I was inspired by Philip and Governor Oshiomhole”
Meanwhile, the leader of Edo State caucus in the House and Deputy Whip, Pally Iriase, praised the Deputy Governor-elect as a good representative of Edo people for the period he was in the House of Representatives.
“As speaker after speaker have spoken eulogizing one of us who sorjourned with us for such a short time, I must admit that he acquitted himself creditably in the spirit of a true Edo man.
We are going to miss him here but I know that Edo needs him more. We are taking to Edo State a true ambassador of the legislature and urge him to take to heart all the advice that has been offered him by colleagues,” Iriase said.
