Reps deputy Speaker harps urgent need for balanced agricultural economy

Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuff, has said that Nigerian needs a balanced agricultural economy for the country to survive.
He said this after the presentation of three sets of tractors worth N60m to All Farmers Association Of Nigeria (AFAN) in the Osogbo/Olorunda,Orolu/Irepodun federal constituency of Osun state.
The deputy Speaker explained that he provided the tractors for farmers because “there is urgent need to introduce modern, efficient, productive and scientific method of farming to achieve a balanced agricultural economy.”
He noted that, “discoveries of technological skills must be used to endow agricultural advancement,” since agriculture remained the backbone of any given society.

He therefore asked farmers to make it a virile one in the constituency, while encouraging farmers to do everything within their capability to see that agriculture thrive in the state, promised to associate with them always to improve the sector the more.
He however pledged that the labour man power would be given requisite skilled technical training which would enable them to play a new role of making Agriculture a second none one in the constituency.
The lawmaker as well promised to put a premium on rural community extension work and stressed that, farmers would be exposed and educated to new and better methods of horticulture to improve their knowledge.
The deputy Speaker also maintained that In the area of agriculture, all hands would be on deck to always look forward and not backward.
“We will wax strong and rich in Agriculture since we have sufficient skilled man power to take charge of the bought tractors . We must from now on plan and prepare for the survival of agriculture in the country,” he added.
