Remain positive, a better Ekiti on the way, PDP guber aspirant, Obafemi charges residents

BY STEPHEN GBADAMOSI,

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the coming 2026 Emiti State governorship election, Otunba Peter Obafemi, has urged residents of the state to remain positive and hope for better days, despite the economic and financial challenges facing the country, Ekiti State in particular.

A statement released by Olugbemiga Peter Obafemi (OPO) Media Vanguard, on Thursday, revealed that Obafemi gave the appeal that the present socio-economic challenges bedeviling the state would be a thing of the past.

“if we remain optimistic and collectively work together to ensure that PDP forms the next government in the state,” said the aspirant.

Obafemi said as a thoroughbred technocrat, he knew what to do tho make Ekiti State self-sufficient to harness the God-given resources for the benefit of the people of the state.

He said while a host of things needed to be done to reduce hunger and starvation in the state, we should revive our ailing economy, gainfully engage our youths.

“Next year governorship election will give us another opportunity to take steps that would lead us to our promised land.

“We can make the choice that will change our destiny. While we expect the monthly allocations from the Federal Government, I believe we can leverage on the educational prowess and vast natural resources we are blessed with. I have the wherewithal to harness these resources, as an experienced human and resources manager,” he said.

He further enjoined residents of the state facing the heat of the current economic and financial challenges in the country to rise to the occasion of electing a credible leader in the 2026 election “for the sake of Ekiti State and it’s inhabitants.”

He said his government, under the PDP, in its characteristic pro-people policies, would prioritise the lives of the common man, as opposed to economic policies that would keep taking from their already lean pockets.

“A PDP government under my leadership will ensure that all our ailing and neglected cottage industries are revived and new ones are established so that our teeming youths and numerous graduates coming out of schools every year would be gainfully employed.

“There would be a renewed focus on agriculture and agro-processing. Our government would partner with CAADP to cultivate more lands for agriculture to have more food to eat, and our able youths would be properly engaged.

“We can feed ourselves and other states of the Southwest for a start.

“We will make sure that residents of the state are secure and economically empowered to go into various trades to sustain their lives.

“When they are busy in different trades or activities; when they are empowered and engaged, they would be carried away by the profits they make and be mindful of the fact that peace would lead to all kinds of developments,” Obafemi said.
