The referee for Floyd Mayweather’s showdown with Manny Pacquiao will earn the sum of $10,000 (£6,800) for officiating the biggest fight since the turn of the millennium.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are expected to pocket £82m and £54.5m respectively from the fight which is reportedly worth an estimated $300m (£205m).
If those figures are accurate, undefeated Mayweather will earn over 12,000 times more than ‘the third man in the ring’ for his night’s work.
$10,000 is the standard amount the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) pays referees for big fights.
The referee for the bout has not yet been decided but the NSAC are expected to make an announcement this week.
Kenny Bayless and Tony Weeks have emerged as the front runners to be given the nod.
