We are ready to handle foreign airlines in Kaduna -FAAN boss

.. To move mobile tower to Kaduna

The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engr Saleh Dunoma, has expressed readiness by the organization to provide seamless service to both foreign and domestic airlines operators at the Kaduna International Airport following full installation of needed facilities there.

Speaking with journalists after inspecting the airport, Dunoma declare: “We are ready to take foreign airlines, all the things that they need for international operations are on ground, what is important actually, is the safety equipment they need, the ILS has been installed, the runway is good, the terminal building will be ready in few days, the acting president has directed the contractors to complete some items before the commencement of international flights.”

Dunoma expressed hope that with the directive by the acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to the contractor handling the airport project will be complied with and get all the necessary finishing in place adding that the foreign airlines have agreed to operate into Kaduna airport.

“The foreign airlines have agreed, that is why they are here, they will be conducted round the facility.

The contractors have been directed by the acting president to complete their job. I wouldn’t know which of the foreign airlines have finalised their decision to come but all of them are here”, he said.

“Screening will be done here but the terminal building in Abuja will not be shut down for passengers who will want to come to Kaduna through there. Kaduna airport is one of the latest airport in Nigeria with five generators,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Capt Fola Akinkuotu has said that the mobile tower will be moved from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja to Kaduna on the night of March 7, when the airport would be closed to traffic to enhance communication at the airport.

Akinkuotu who disclosed this in Kaduna after inspecting facilities at the airport also commended NAMA workers, especially the engineers for a good job at the airport.

“NAMA works provide safety facilities because our work is Navigation, Surveillance and Communication, NAMA is very satisfied that it has done a good job. The glidescope, the ILS are in place, we have the approach flight that actually complement the ILS. The mobile tower will move from Abuja to this place on the night of March 7 once Abuja is closed. The NAMA engineers have been fantastic in installing many of these facilities,” he said.
