The management of Rangers International FC of Enugu, has appealed to fans and supporters to steer-clear Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu during its home matches.
Media Officer of the club, Norbert Okolie, said this in a statement on Sunday in Enugu.
Okolie said that the club’s management was compelled to take the action following a directive from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
According to him, the NFF directive to this effect is contained in a letter dated June 6, 2021 on upholding the COVID-19 protocol.
“We are pleading with our fans to bear with the club concerning the NFF directive and support the team from their homes until football authorities in Abuja issue further directives.
“Only match officials, team officials, players, accredited journalists, and very relevant football stakeholders will be allowed into the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, venue of the club’s home matches,” he said.
The spokesperson for Rangers emphasised that no single fan would be allowed to be part of the Match Day 27 home fixture between Rangers and Sunshine Stars FC on June 13 as well as subsequent home matches.
Okolie advised those officially allowed – match officials, team officials, players, accredited journalists and relevant football stakeholders – to make it to the stadium earlier each match day to get cleared at the gate on time.
