Rainstorm in Nasarawa has forced former minister Maku and others to flee their homes

A Monday rainfall in Nasarawa State’s Wakama hamlet demolished 50 structures, including the mansion of former information minister Labaran Maku.
Adams Makka-Nangba, the District Head of Wakama, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, confirmed the calamity to reporters on Tuesday, saying the properties damaged were worth millions of naira.
“It was sad that yesterday’s downpour demolished over 50 dwellings in my domain, leaving some people homeless and destroying property.
The traditional ruler revealed that the palace of HRH, Alhaji Usman Galadima Umbugadu, the Aren Akun, Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Hospital and School, Mr Labaran Maku house, and other public structures were also affected.

Mr Makka-Nangba pleaded with the state government to intervene in the community’s plight.
“I therefore call on Governor Abdullahi Sule as well as the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) to come to our aid.
“As this will go a long way in reducing our plights, thereby improving their standard of living,’’ he said.
The traditional ruler, who sympathised with those that lost their belongings, urged them to remain focused and prayerful.
He also urged NASEMA to visit the community in order to assess the situation.
