I spotted these royal horse-drawn carriages parked outside The Langham hotel just over the road from the BBC’s headquarters in London just now.

I’m told the Queen has sent them to pick up the Liberian ambassador to the UK, who is due to deliver letters of credence to her at Buckingham palace today.

“They’re to show that Liberia is still an ally to the UK”, one of the police officers told me when I asked what “letters of credence” were.
Ambassador Mohammed Sheriff and his wife appeared to be enjoying the occasion, as a small crowd of interested passers-by gathered to see what all the fuss was about.
