PTAD adds 9,125 NITEL/MTEL retirees on monthly payroll

The Pensions Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has added 9,125 ex-workers of the NITEL/MTEL to the monthly pension payroll after twenty five years of uncertainty post-privatisation of the firm.

PTAD Executive Secretary, Mrs Sharon Ikeazor, who stated this at the weekend, added that the inclusion of these ex-workers to the payroll was in fulfillment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to ensuring that all pensioners get their entitlements.

Ikeazor disclosed that payment to 1,385 Next Of Kins (NOKs) will follow shortly as the Directorate concludes the computation of the deceased pensioners ‘benefits.

The PTAD boss had in August 2018, assured the ex-workers that they would be put on the monthly payroll to begin to receive their pension for life because the greatest injustice is not to pay workers their wages after meritorious service to their fatherland.

Ikeazor assured them that payment of their pensions arrears will be made as funds are allocated and released.

PTAD has so far verified and recently pay-rolled Delta Steel Company (DSC), Nigeria Reinsurance and NICON Insurance under its Parastatals Pension Department.
