PSG Close in on Super Falcons Star Rasheedat Ajibade

Paris Saint-Germain are set to bolster their attacking options with the signing of Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

Ajibade, 24, is currently a free agent after parting ways with Spanish Liga F side Atletico Madrid in June, when her contract expired. The move to France would see her reunite with fellow Nigerian international Jennifer Echegini, who has become a key figure in PSG’s midfield.

The winger, nicknamed “Rash,” reportedly attracted interest from several clubs, including sides in the United States’ Major League Soccer, but PSG are understood to have won the race for her signature. The deal, once completed, will add both pace and creativity to the French D1 Arkema giants’ front line.

Ajibade’s stock has risen sharply after leading Nigeria to a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco last month. She was also named the tournament’s Best Player, capping a campaign that showcased her leadership and attacking flair.

“Rasheedat is a player with world-class ability and an incredible winning mentality,” a PSG source was quoted as saying. “She can make a difference in the biggest games.”

The Super Falcons captain is expected to finalise the move in the coming days, with PSG eager to integrate her into the squad ahead of their Champions League push.
