Protect Your Legacy, Mills Tells Bolt

Coach Glen Mills has charged Usain Bolt to protect his legacy, ahead of his three-year swansong, which gets going with a return to Beijing for this year’s IAAF World Championships.

Now with six Olympic gold medals, 10 World Championships medals (8 gold), records in the 100m (9.59), 200m (19.19) and the 4x100m (36.84) to his CV, Bolt, who announced that he will be hanging up his spikes after the 2017 Worlds in London, will be focused on staying on top and ensuring his legacy is intact when he does decide to call it a day.

“As you know Bolt has expressed from his standpoint that he is in a three-year programme leading up to retirement because he said he would bow out of action after the World Championships in 2017,” reasoned Mills before throwing some doubt into the mix. “People have always set retirement times and sometimes they go back on it so we wait and see if it becomes a reality.”
