Prosecute Fasehun, says factional UPN

As the crisis rocking the Unity Party of Nigeria ( UPN) lingers on, some factional members of the party, under the leadership of Chairman, Okuwa Bankole has called for immediate prosecution of Frederick Fasehun, who according to them had seized to be the party’s National Chairman.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday by Abdullahi Sokoto, the National Secretary of the factional members of UPN, the party accused Fasehun of compromise and character assassination of Muhammadu Buhari, the President-elect on issues that demands for Fasehun’s prosecution by security agencies.

“Fasehun alleged in a publication that Buhari is the creator of Boko Haram, he also said the president-elect stole N2.8 billion. He has raised so many disturbing issues against the general, which we believe is pertinent for the security to invite Fasehun to clarify. These allegations, we believe, he made them for mischief ; to cause chaos and insecurity in the country ” the statement read.

The party maintained that all the allegations made against the person of Muhammadu Buhari, the President-elect by Fasehun were not in the interest of the party. It stressed that UPN has a party had severed it’s ties with Fasehun on the ground of the alleged role he played in the phony contact to buy arms and cause mayhem in the south West in the just concluded elections.

“Nigerians will not forget too soon that Fasehun collected a N3 billion contract from outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 General Elections to secure NNPC pipelines from vandalism.

However, UPN and other patriotic Nigerians believe that he was given phony contact to buy arms, recruit thugs, cause mayhem in the south west region and rig election in favour of the PDP. This he had woefully failed his paymasters following PDP’s dismal outing in the polls.

The factional group of UPN said it no longer recognise Fasehun as it’s National Chairman informing that Okuwa Bankole has been “legitimately elected as chairman of UPN at the March 6th, 2015, convention held in Kaduna.

“We wish to warn the general public that Fasehun remained removed as the national chairman of our party and remain suspended as party member. Anyone or body who does business with him as UPN member does so at his/her risk. The statement read.
