Produce Kanu in 7 days or prepare for showdown, IPOB orders FG, South-East govs

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has given the federal government and South East governors seven days to produce its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, or be prepared for a showdown.

The IPOB media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, in a statement on Thursday said that the whereabouts of Mazi Kanu has remained unknown several days after the attack on his house in Umuahia by the military and that search to locate him and his parents has been to no avail.

He added, that after going through the record of IPOB members in Kanu’s compound on the day of the attack, it was discovered that about 38 members were arrested, adding that they had also not been seen to date.

“We are giving the federal government and South East governors seven days to produce or tell us the condition of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. If he is still alive, they should charge him to court because if anything happens to him, the South East governors should bear the consequences after the expiration of this notice, or they should hasten to build more prisons and acquire more weapons which they will use to kill more Biafrans,”

The equally called the attention of the United Nations and other international agencies to what they described as illegalities in the country.

“We are once again raising alarm for the United Nation and the relevant bodies across the globe to ask Nigerian government and her security operatives to give details of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his parents, including those dead bodies and those picked up alive during the attack and invasion of our leader’s compound in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku Umuahia.

“We wonder why the South Eastern governors would decide to collaborate with Hausa Fulani oligarchy to kill our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and parents. Nnamdi Kanu has been using nonviolence approach for the actualization of Biafra since 2012 when the struggle for Biafra independence started.

“It is important for the Nigerian government and South East governors to produce our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu before the situation gets out of hand.

“Let the world also ask the Nigerian government and South East governors why and how they sent the military to invade Nnamdi Kanu’s compound, which led to the loss of many innocent lives within five days of the operation in his compound.”

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to IPOB leader, had earlier raised an alarm that his client may have been abducted and killed by the Nigeria military. Ejiofor made the claims as a counter to the allegations that Kanu has gone into hiding.

According to him, the last contact with his client was few minutes before the military invaded the home of the IPOB leader on the 14th day of September 2017.

“I have no doubt whatsoever that stories making round that my client has fled outside Nigeria, were planted to divert attention from their murderous raid on my client’s house.

“I made last contact with my client few minutes into the bloody onslaught in his home on the 14th day of September 2017. Till date, I have not established further communication with him.

“The soldiers must have made possible contact with him on this 14th day of September 2017, when they invaded his house on a bloody raid, and by virtue of which position, they should tell the world if he was caught by fire of bullets in the hit of the bloody onslaught or he was arrested alive.

“In all probability, my client may have been killed by the invading soldiers who are now seeking ways to fool the world into believing that he has left the country. My request is that the military should produce my client wherever they kept him and stop diverting attention of the public.”
