President Tinubu celebrates customs CG Adewale Adeniyi on his 59th birthday
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on the occasion of his 59th birthday, celebrated on January 19, 2025.
Since assuming leadership of the NCS in June 2023 as the 14th Comptroller-General, Adeniyi has been instrumental in driving key reforms within the agency. President Tinubu highlighted his commendable efforts in advancing the digitalisation and automation of Customs operations, a transformation that has streamlined processes, improved efficiency, and reinforced professionalism within the service. The President also praised Adeniyi’s focus on boosting staff morale, which has translated into heightened performance across the board.
Under Adeniyi’s stewardship, the Customs Service has consistently surpassed revenue generation targets, contributing significantly to national economic stability. His leadership has also strengthened trade facilitation mechanisms, fostering a more dynamic and efficient trade environment.
President Tinubu lauded the innovative anti-smuggling measures introduced by the Customs Chief, which include empowering youth through skill acquisition programs, engaging with traditional institutions, and cultivating a culture of effective communication and mutual respect. These initiatives have enhanced the agency’s capacity to combat smuggling and promote economic security.
