Presidency Denies Reports of Gbajabiamila’s Replacement as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff
The presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as his chief of staff (CoS) with Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the president’s principal private secretary.
Speculation had circulated on social media suggesting that Gbajabiamila had been sacked and replaced by Muri-Okunola.
However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, said there is “absolutely no truth” to the claims.
According to Onanuga, Gbajabiamila remains the chief of staff to the president, while Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his current role as principal private secretary.
“The Chief of Staff remains in his position. The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff,” the statement read.
Onanuga described the report as false and accused those behind it of deliberately spreading misinformation.
“The viral claim is a fabrication by mischievous purveyors of fake news whose sole aim is to create disharmony within the government,” he said.
The presidential spokesperson urged Nigerians to disregard the reports and advised media organisations to always verify information before publishing or sharing it on social media.
