PPMC settles rift in Mobil PTD union
Following the leadership tussle between the Mobil branch and national office of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union (PTD) which led to disruption in products supply system in the Lagos Area , the Management of the midstream subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), says it has intervened in the dispute and that normalcy will soon be restored. In a statement signed by the NNPC’s Public Affairs head, Ohi Alegbe, it assured that there was sufficient stock of products in Lagos and across the country and advised motorists not to resort to panic buying as the situation was under control.
The Corporation reiterated its commitment to uninterrupted product supply to the general public in keeping with its mandate. Since the beginning of this week, some filling stations in Lagos State have been under lock and key, citing fuel scarcity. The disagreement between PPMC and Tanker Drivers Union was cited to have caused in a strike by the drivers from loading fuel at depots, resulting in artificial scarcity in Lagos State.
