Population Commission urges Nigerians to register all births

The Chairman, National Population Commission (NPC), Eze Duruiheoma San, has appealed to Nigerians to fulfil their civic responsibility by ensuring the proper registration of all births and deaths cases through the Civil Registration and Vital statistics (CVRS) system of the commission.
Duruiheoma was speaking at the maiden African Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) day commemoration in Abuja on Friday, where he stated that birth certificate is the first legal identity of a child as well as a fundamental human rights, every parent owes the newborn.
He noted that Africa Union and indeed Nigeria have identified the critical role of effective and continuous universal data collating of citizens, as a direct indicator of development in the continent.
