Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed thousands of its personnel for the Saturday’s gubernatorial and State House of Assembly election in 36 state of the federation, warning them against any form of compromise to rig election.
The NSCDC said that about 500 trained sniffer dogs are also deployed, 300 Operational vehicles, 100 Surveillance vehicles and Ambulances to
further boost the security of the electorates, electoral official as well as sensitive and non-sensitive materials before, during and after the election.
The Commandant General of NSCDC, Ade Abolurin made this known on Friday at the Corps Headquarters in Abuja while handing down directives to the DCG’s, the Zonal Commanders and State Commandants.
He warned against compromise or any activity that could label them as engaging in partisan politics, saying, as stakeholders in the Nigeria’s electoral process, the Corps is expected to re-double its effort and work hard to deliver a violence free election.
He reiterated that efforts have been put in place by the government to make the exercise smooth and hitch free, hence its deployment of personnel to every nook and crannies of the state especially the identified flashpoints considered notorious and volatile.
Abolurin restated that the peace and unity of Nigeria cannot be jettisoned under any guide, any personnel found wanting or suspected to be involved in electoral offences will be dealt with according to the rules of engagement as the corps leadership will not tolerate any action that falls short of the highest level of moral and professional conduct.
The Corps top boss who believes in an all round approach to tackling the problems of insecurity especially as regards the forth coming election has redeployed the DCGs and ACGs to different Zones and some volatile States to guarantee a transparent process devoid of violence and mayhem .
To the political class, he admonishes them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of the election as reflecting the wishes of people who should govern them.
