At about 7pm on Saturday, an unidentified person was killed at Sabo area of Ife Central after an argument ensued.
It was gathered that the Hausa youths in the area were celebrating the victory of All Progressives Congress in their wards when the crisis ensued.
A resident in the area told our correspondent that more than five people were injured before security operatives stormed the area.
“One person got killed in Sabo some, he was stabbed with a broken bottle. Thank God for Police siren that came in the air. Its not just worth it. It is pathetic that people are dying because of politics,” he added.
It was, however, gathered that Ademola was killed when hoodlums invaded some areas in the town.
According to some residents of the area, Ademola was shot severally before giving up to the ghost.
It was learnt that Ademola had recently defected from All Progressives Congress to Peoples Democratic Party in ward 01.
“This morning, we were preparing for election when we heard gunshots. It happened very early in the morning around 05.00am. Most of us even thought they were armed robbers buy on getting down by day break, we heard it is Ademola that was killed. I don’t really know what transpired but I heard he had issues with some politicians,” a resident of the area told Daily Times.
When contacted, Commissioner of Police in charge of the election in Osun State, Mr. Sam Okaula, confirmed the crisis in Ikirun.
At Olomu community in Ife South Local Government, not only was a personal assistant to a State of Assembly lawmaker shot dead, houses and properties, including cars were damaged.
The candidate of the APC in Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Jide Omoworare, tacitly mentioned this in a chat in his hometown.
According to Omoworare, a version of the report given to him was that two vehicles were burnt and the house of a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, identified as Yinusa was attacked.
He added “In Ife South, we got a report that political thugs stormed Olomu and burnt some houses and damaged some property, but normalcy has been restored.
“I learnt that somebody was killed, but I have not been able to confirm that. I heard that the person was been shot at, but I will still have to confirm if the person actually died.
