The Inspector of Police, (IGP), Suleiman Abba, has ordered the restriction on vehicular movement on election days.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the Police Force, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Acting CP, stated that on “Saturday, March 28, 2015, there would be no vehicular movement from 8.00am to 5.00pm only. Same restriction would be applied on Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 8.00am to 5.00pm only”.
It also explained that the measure was part of efforts to ensure adequate security in the forthcoming general election across the country.
“The restriction of movement order applies to all, except for ambulances, fire service trucks and others on essential duties. Consequently, travellers and citizens, who intend to use roads on these days and hours, are advised to plan alternative times for their travelling”, the statement added.
