The Bauchi State Police Command has reported a bandit attack on the community and Joint Task Force (JTF) base in Gwana District, Alkaleri LGA, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and a vigilante.
As contained in a press release made available to newsmen by command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nafiu Habib on Monday, the bandits also abducted three residents of the area.
He said that the attack, which occurred on February 22, 2026, was repelled by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Police (AKU), who neutralized seven bandits during a gun duel.
SP Habib said the Bauchi state Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered additional security forces to be deployed to restore order, protect displaced civilians, and prevent further attacks.
“The Commissioner of Police assures the public that monitoring and intelligence gathering are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing assailants and rescue victims,” said the PPRO.
