Police nab transporter in Niger State, recover 375 rounds of ammunition

A transporter by the name Abubakar Adamu has been arrested by men of the Niger state police command for being in possession of 375 rounds of live ammunition. Seven AK47 magazines were reportedly found in his vehicle.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Abiodun Wasiu, who disclosed this to newsmen, said Abubakar was intercepted in Suleja while driving a red Civic Honda car loaded with the ammunition. He confessed to the police that he was a member of a robbery and kidnap syndicate and that his duty was transporting the group’s weapons for the sum of N150,000 per trip.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a robbery and kidnap syndicate, with responsibility to transport arms and ammunition for the syndicate,” Abiodun said.

The police spokesperson also said that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as possible while efforts to round up the other members of his team will be intensified.
