Police in Imo parade woman who sold 2 children for N200,000

The Imo state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, on Tuesday in Owerri the state capital handed over two children abducted in Akure, Ondo state and sold for N200,000 to their parents.

The Police boss while parading the suspect, identified as Mary Paul, before handing over the victims Unmi Isiaku, 5, and Habib Awalu, 7, to their fathers, Marutala Ishaku and Awalu Muhammed, disclosed that the children were stolen three weeks ago in Akure.

He explained that the suspect intentionally planned to steal the children but disguised herself as a tenant where the children lived with their patents.

He said “I want to handover these two children, Unmi and Habib to their biological fathers but before I do that, let me parade before you the woman who stole them three weeks ago in Ondo state.

The suspect, Mary Paul, disguised herself as a tenant and only four days she packed into the compound where the children were living with the parents, she stole them.

These children were part of the eleven children we recovered in the recent time. These children a boy and a girl were stolen three weeks ago and by the grace of God my men from Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad recovered them and arrested the suspect.

We must preach against trafficking in human beings. Children are special gifts from God and we must work hard to protect them.

After stealing the children in Ondo state, the suspect who hails from Cross River state ran to Imo state for this unfortunate and abominable transaction.

The amount she sold these children will tell you that some people have sold their souls to the devil. We must keep uncovering them. I assure you that this woman will not go unpunished. We will charge her to court, accordingly.

In an interview, the suspect said that she sold the children for N200,000.

According to her, she rented an apartment in Ondo state at the same compound where the parents of the children were living with the sole aim of stealing Unmi and Habib.

Muhammed, the father of Unmi, told journalists that they suspected that Paul could be responsible for the disappearance of their children when they could no longer find her in her apartment weeks after.
