Police hands over suspected drug dealer, 161kg of seized illicit drugs to NDLEA in Bauchi
Bauchi state Police command has handed over a suspected drug dealer, Mr Ogbu Simon, and 161kg of illicit drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bauchi Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu while handing over the suspect and the seized illicit drugs to the NDLEA officials on Friday, said the suspect was arrested in Ningi LGA, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
According to the CP, the suspect was found to be supplying narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State to Ningi and surrounding regions.
He said that the police recovered four bags containing suspected Diazepam (D 5) and Tramadol tablets, with an estimated value of N12.2 million.
CP Aliyu affirmed the Command’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
The Bauchi Police command attributed its success to strategic review of operations, partnership with sister security agencies, community participation, and intelligence-led policing.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state commander of the NDLEA in Bauchi, the deputy state commander, Usaini Umaru commended the Bauchi state police command for the prompt transfer of the suspect and the seized illicit drugs to his office.
The commander assured the Bauchi Police command of the NDLEA’s continued collaboration to bring drug dealers to justice.
Umaru therefore, called on members of the public to cooperate with the Agency in order to enable it sanitize the state from the activities of drug dealers.
