Police Games: Anambra will experience economic boom – Monarch

A prominent traditional ruler in Anambra State, HRM Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje, has disclosed that the 12th edition of the Nigeria Police Games which will take place in the state will increase the state’s internally generated revenue.
Igwe Onyekwuluje said the influx of visitors to the state would open windows of transactions and boost economic growth.

Igwe Onyekwuluje noted this while briefing journalists at his palace, Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area.
He described the games as part of measures to promote unity and demonstrate hospitality which is synonymous with Anambra State.
The 12th edition which is the first in the South East commenced from February 29th, 2020 to end on March 7th, 2920 would witness athletes compete in over 20 sports.
Over 3000 athletes from the 12 Zonal Police Commands and the Force Headquarters are expected to participate in the competition with each zone made up of three commands, except Zone Six with four and Zone Two with two commands.
The game which is tagged Anambra 2020, would be played in some designated centres like like Alex Ekwueme square, Awka, which is the kick off venue, Rojenny Stadium Oba, Tansia University, Agulu Lake Hotel, among others
The traditional ruler commended Governor Willie Obiano for such decision, which according to him, would further bring Anambra State to global security map.

“The decision to host the games in Anambra is due to security architecture Governor Obiano has put in place. So many people are identifying with Anambra.
“It will promote activities in the local markets and add to the financial capacity of the state. It is part of what we need to grow our economy.
“Aside economic reasons, it will also expose our people to different games which they had never seen before. There is room for them to also participate.
“I believe, by the end of the game, many will have interest to join police force,” Igwe Onyekwuluje added.
