Police foil cult, robbery activities in Asaba, Ibusa, Arrest 63 cult suspects
Delta State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the arrest of no fewer than sixty three suspected Cultists, among others in its ongoing fight against criminal activities in the state.
The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Olufemi Abaniwonda who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to Journalists in Asaba, said that Operatives attached to the Command’s headquarters in Asaba acted on intelligence gathering when the swooped on the suspects and arrested one of them including armed robbers in a separate operations and recovered fire arms including ammunition.
CP Abaniwonda said that the Operatives intensified efforts in combing various Communities in Ibusa and Asaba where they arrested the sixty three suspected Cultists who upon interrogations, confessed to be members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity also known as Arrow barger adding that others arrested were also intelligence gathering.
The Police Commissioner further said that the security Operatives will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the three senatorial districts in the state that had been seemingly under siege of hoodlums, are properly combed and the criminal suspects brought to book, adding that:We are not relenting in our efforts to make Deltans sleep with their eyes closed. We have arrested several suspected kidnappers, Cultists operating in the state and we can count over 120 Suspects in the last one year ”
Noting that the Police Operatives burst into the initiating ground of the Suspects leaving some of the suspects to have fled,, the Police Boss disclosed that the police will continue to do all they are assigned to do adding that nobody involved in Criminal activities would be spared no matter how highly placed.
He however appealed to informants to ensure credible source of their information, stressing that the police detectives have been assigned to strategic areas across the state with a view to ensuring that suspected miscreants, Criminals are brought to book adding that the police have recorded huge successes in the arrest of hoodlums in the last few days.
Investigation had revealed that various cult leaders including their members have been terrorizing Asaba, its environs, Ibusa and Iseele Asabgba Communities when the police detectives in proactive measures swung into action to arrest their leaders among others. One of them, Oluwatobi Olugbemi 29, a native of Ikenne remo in Ijebu Ode local government area of Ogun state who had been residing in Ibusa Community while upon interrogation, he confessed to be leader of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
