Police Declare Runaway Gay Suspect Wanted After Escaping Jungle Justice In Ugo
The Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police has declared wanted one Ephraim Osarobo Abifade who narrowly escaped death after he was reportedly caught in the act of same-sex practice with his secret lover by a neighbour in Ugo community in Benin City on August 15th 2024.
Ephraim Osarobo Abifade and his secret lover identified as Ehis were said to have been reportedly caught making out in his apartment by a neighbour who unsuspectingly walked into the apartment and met them in a compromising position while the door was unlocked .
An eyewitness at the scene claimed that Ephraim Osarobo Abifade and his secret lover were instantly thrown into panic mood as the neighbour after nabbing them in the act immediately raised an alarm which attracted a mammoth crowd to the apartment .
It was said that the angry mob, having gained access to the apartment, apprehended Ehis while Ephraim Osarobo Abifade reportedly managed to escape through a broken ceiling in his apartment .
Our correspondent was reliably informed that Ehis was reportedly beaten up and lynched to death by the angry mob who unleashed terror on him for desecrating their community while another group of angry mob reportedly chased after Ephraim Osarobo Abifade who ran and fled to a nearby police station to seek protection from the wrath of the angry mob.
Meanwhile, a police statement made available to journalists in Benin City said that on August 15th 2024, a gay suspect identified as Ephraim Osarobo Abifade was taken into custody after he reportedly escaped from his apartment where he was caught engaging in same-sex practice with his lover Ehis who was allegedly lynched to death.
The statement further added that the angry youths in the community, who later besieged the police station demanded the release of Ephraim Osarobo Abifade to them in order to carry out traditional and spiritual cleansing of the desecrated community, were duly assured that the police would launch a preliminary investigation into the case with a view to prosecuting Ephraim Osarobo Abifade.
Barely 48 hours after escaping and taken into custody by the police ahead of his immediate trial, Ephraim Osarobo Abifade reportedly escaped and fled under highly controversial circumstances on his way to court for trial.
His property and personal belongings were later reportedly set ablaze by the angry youths who returned to his apartment after confirmed report emerged that he (Ephraim Osarobo Abifade) had escaped.
After his sudden escape, angry neighbours were immediately seen publicly expressing their frustration for not being able to lay their hands on him in order to have him beheaded simply for invoking a terrible curse upon the community.
According to Pa.Aliu, a community leader in Ugo.spiritual cleansing and appeasement must be performed .
“Spiritual cleansing of the desecrated community after the beheading of the culprit(Ephraim Osarobo Abifade) was traditionally required to cleanse the community in order to avert imminent calamities of mysterious deaths and curses invoked upon the community as a result of the sacrilegious act.” Pa.Aliu added.
Meanwhile, the statement added that Ephraim Osarobo Abifade, whose whereabouts however remain unknown, has however been declared wanted by the Nigerian Police for gross violation of the Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2014 after his escape as some persons were later arrested in connection with the lynching of his secret lover Ehis .
In Nigeria, the gross violation of the Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2014 attracts a minimum of 14 years imprisonment upon conviction.
