Police arrest suspects over alleged stealing of electricity cable in Bauchi
The Bauchi state police command has announced the arrest of suspects over alleged stealing of electricity cable.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil stated this in a crime bulletin he made available to newsmen yesterday.
“On the 16th of August, 2025, at about 23:47 hrs, the command apprehended Mujahid Muhammad ‘m’, aged 22, of Gudum Hausawa, and Adamu Abdullahi ‘m’, aged 21, of Dan-Dango, in possession of a reasonable quantity of aluminium Electric wires suspected to be stolen property”, CSP Wakil said.
He added that the suspects during interrogation, confessed to have stolen the aluminium from the electrical poles at Dan-Dango village.
According to CSP Wakil, one of the suspects (Adamu Abdullahi) further confessed to have stolen the aluminium wires on 15/08/2025, together with one Abdulmumini Waziri ‘m’ of Gwallagan Mayaka, who is now at large, and sold them to one Haruna ‘m’ AKA Magaji of Gudum Hausawa, who was also at large.
He said preliminary investigation indicated that the arrested suspects had been involved in the act for a long time, pledging that the command will expand its investigation to explore more details behind the act of vandalism.
The crime bulletin stressed that the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
CSP Wakil explained that based on the investigation findings, the command will liaise with Jos Electric Distribution (JED), Bauchi, to arrange and prosecute the offenders for the established offences.
