Police arrest suspected organ harvester Nasarawa
Nasarawa State Police Command on Tuesday said it has arrested one Maro Ebojoh, 40 years, an indigene of Delta State, for allegedly being involved in an organ harvest in the state.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the police Headquarters in Lafia, the capital.
CP Jauro said that on Monday, 17th November 2025, a distress call was received from Alhaji Yahaya Sabo Motor Park reporting the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in an organ harvest.
He explained that the preliminary investigation was conducted, and it was revealed that on Friday, November 14, 2025, one Maro Ebojoh ‘M’, 40 years old, of Ogbara Inland Area, Etiope East LGA, Delta State, arrived in Lafia to source potential organ donors and prepare them for an immediate kidney transplant.
According to CP Jauro, “Upon receiving the information, I immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Lafia, to proceed to the scene. The suspect was subsequently handed over to the operatives, and three victims were successfully rescued.
“He lured the following victims with a promise of N2,000,000 payment upon completion of the procedure:
Umar Ahmadu Barau, 25 years, Suleiman Alhaji-Garba, 20 years, Williams Dadung, 32 years, and Stanley Ezekiel, 27 years.
“The suspect took all the victims to a hospital for medical evaluation. One of the victims, having passed the initial screening, was moved to Abuja for the transplant, but the procedure could not be held due to issues related to blood pressure. The victim was subsequently lodged in a hotel to stabilize. Operatives of the Command swiftly moved to Abuja and rescued the victim unhurt,” he said.
He also added that the suspect confessed to the crime and the agreed amount between him and his client was Six Million and Five hundred thousand Naira (N6,500,000), out of which he received an advance payment of Five hundred thousand Naira.
On the resurgence wave of insecurity in the southern part of the state, CP Shetima Jauro informed that he had deployed his personnel, including soldiers, in the affected areas and normalcy has been restored in the area.
The Nasarawa State commissioner of Police called on residents of the State to report any suspicious movement to security agencies for swift action.
