Police arrest kidnappers of Dangote employee.

Three suspects allegedly responsible for the murder of one Istifanus Gurama, a key business strategist at the Dangote Group and the kidnap of five other expartriates from same organisation have been arrested.
The suspects, Abubakar Gide 24, Abdullahi Salihu 22, and Babuga Adamu 25 were arrested by men of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Ijebu Igbo – Ogun state, Epe Forest – Lagos State and Ajase Ipo Forest – kwara state respectively.
Information gathered revealed that the IRT had gathered credible intelligence between November 27 and December 3, 2016 before launching a manhunt for the suspects which paid off.
The suspects confessed to have kidnapped and released all five initial victims after receiving the sum of N5.6 million ransom. They however disclosed that Gurama who had acted as the ransom transporter was murdered after collecting the ransom from him.
Speaking on the breakthrough, the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim admonished members of the public whose relations fall prey as kidnap victims to restrain from negotiating and paying ransom.
He said: “It is absolutely important the negotiators of ransom have confidence in the police.”
Meanwhile, the suspects have since led the police to their hideout in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun Forest where three AK47 rifles, six AK47 magazines and 160 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
The suspects further led IRT operatives to Apoje River where the body of Gurama was recovered.
Efforts are also in progress to arrest other gang members who are currently at large in other states.
The IGP Idris also said: “Police officers should not get carried away by the recent successes but instead redouble their efforts in the fight against crime.”
He assured Nigerians that the police will remain undaunted in the collective fight against crime. “As members of the public begin the yuletide celebrations, the police will ensure the celebrations are crime free.” he said.
