Police arrest 10 over attempted murder, armed robbery in Ondo
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects linked to an attempted murder and armed robbery attack in Igoba Community, Akure North LGA.
Olushola Ayanlade, Police spokesperson, said the suspects were behind the October 2 attack on Mrs Ogunoye Oluomo and an attempt to assassinate Oba Adinlewa John, the traditional ruler of the community.
Armed with firearms, knives, charms and other weapons, the assailants injured Oluomo and dispossessed her of belongings before advancing to the palace. The monarch narrowly escaped.
Ayanlade said police operatives swiftly intervened, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects who confessed to their roles.
Items recovered included two locally-made pistols, one single-barrel gun, live ammunition, knives, machetes, and charms.
The suspects will be charged to court after investigations.
“Ondo State will never be a breeding ground for lawlessness. Anyone who dares to test the resolve of the Nigeria Police will be brought under control with the full force of the law,” Ayanlade warned.
