Police Apprehend Two Kidnappers, Retrieve Motorcycles in Ondo
According to the Ondo State Police Command, two suspected kidnappers have been taken into custody, and motorcycles that the suspects are said to have used in the state have been found.
The command spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, provided news reporters with this information in a statement on Monday in Akure, the state capital.
According to Jimoh, the arrest served as further evidence of the command’s dedication to safeguarding people and property. He claims that on February 11, 2026, members of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit apprehended the suspects based on technical intelligence and reliable tracking analysis.
“Oliver Okoh (M), 35, and Abubakar Sindiku (M), 25, were arrested in Sabo Sango, Ado Road, and Ilado Community, respectively, as a result of the tracking. The arrest of both suspects was related to an ongoing investigation into a state kidnapping case.
“After being taken into custody, their statements were properly recorded, and they are now providing the police with helpful information. The suspects are members of a kidnapping syndicate, according to preliminary investigation.
“According to reports, they conducted reconnaissance on their motorcycles to learn more about possible targets.
“Additionally, both suspects supported the syndicate’s logistics by giving its members food and other operational supplies. The motorbikes and pertinent equipment that were utilized to support their illegal activities were found. To catch other syndicate members and make sure they are held accountable, an investigation is still underway,” he stated.
According to the spokesperson, the state commissioner of police also assured citizens that the command was unwavering in its resolve to protect people and property across the state.
Jimoh urged the public to maintain their vigilance and to keep giving security agencies timely, reliable, and useful information.
According to reports, residents of Ondo State’s Akure North Local Government Area, Eleyewo Community demonstrated against the kidnapping of a couple by armed men on Saturday morning.
Jamiu Olawale and his wife were reportedly abducted by the attackers, who also shot an escaped individual and forced other residents to flee as they fired intermittently.
Residents responded by blocking the Akure-Owo Expressway while singing songs of solidarity during the demonstration.
The incident occurred just two days after Oba Kehinde Falodun, the monarch of the Agamo Community in the same local government area, was allegedly murdered by armed men.
