Plateau Killings: Agro Rangers moves to restore normalcy – NSCDC boss

The 2020 renewed attacks in Plateau villages of Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of the State, has thrown reactions and counter reactions within various quarters and stakeholders.

The Plateau State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, while reacting from its quarters’ said over 50 Agro Rangers has been deployed to forestall normalcy in the troubled communities.

“Agro Rangers are on ground as part of its responsibility to protect and monitor the farmers against bandits. They also have the mandate to forestall any attack on farmers and boost their confidence to work in their farms without any form of attack”, the NSCDC Plateau State Commandant, Solomon Olasupo said.

Speaking to our correspondent on Thursday in Jos, Olasupo said immediately he got wind of the attack in Mangu, he promptly deployed 50 of the Agro Rangers to the general area and when that of Bokkos occurred he quickly split them into two and sent 25 to contain the killings in Bokkos.

“We shall continue to dominate the general area until peace is finally restored” the NSCDC boss said.

It would be recalled that tension escalated in Kwatas and some surrounding communities of Bokkos LGA, following the killing of some members of Kwatas community by gunmen last Sunday.

The killings in Kwatas was however linked to the one which occurred at Kulben community in Mangu LGA, where over 15 persons lost their lives.
