Plateau Crisis: Military taskforce buries 3 young soldiers
The Military Task Force in Plateau on Wednesday buried three of its young soldiers killed by assailants on September 6, in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking at the burial ceremony held at the Military cemetery, 3 Division of the Nigeria Army, the STF boss, Maj. Gen. Augustine Chris Agundu said the avoidable incident of 6 September 2018, led to the death of these gallant soldiers who battled the armed militias in order to save the communities that were under attack.
“In recent past, the mere presence of troops serves as deterrence to the warring parties to toe the path of law and order, but unfortunately, service personnel are increasingly becoming victims of internal strife and most often their success stories go on noticed.
“It is evident that there exist armed ethnic militia groups sponsored or supported by some elites and elders who deploy the misguided youths into committing the worst of heinous crimes: There is certainly no constitutional provision that allows civilians to bear fire arms but their possession have become a well sort-out vocation here on the Plateau”, the General said.
The deceased soldiers where deployed to Jos from the Defence Headquarters Abuja due to the need to suppress Internal Security Challenges in Plateau.
Corprals Effiong Mboutidem, 36, Isah Ojaghale,30, and Lance Corpral Kingsley Aloue,28, were all part of the Special Forces Team deployed to Plateau on the 25th of June 2018 where they diligently and professionally performed their duties until their untimely death on the 6th of September 2018.
