Pilgrims to pay N680, 000 for 2018 pilgrimage – NCPC

The Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has said that pilgrims to perform this year’s pilgrimage will pay N680, 000 to travel to the holy land.

The Commission also said that all is set for the airlifting of the first batch taking off on November 24th to Israel, Greece and Rome.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Rev. Uja Tor Uja disclosed this recently at Goshen, Nasarawa State during the 2018 Federal Medical Team orientation programme organized by the Commission in conjunction with the Federal Medical Committee saying; “the main pilgrimage would commence on the 24th November and would run through the first week of January, 2019”.

Rev. Uja further disclosed that the Commission in conjunction with the State Pilgrimage Leaders had arrived at an acceptable cost for this year’s pilgrimage which is N680,000 per pilgrim for Israel alone and N870,000 for pilgrims travelling to Greece and Rome.

He informed the medical personnel comprising Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses and Medical Laboratory Scientists that the orientation was part of the preparatory programme for this year’s pilgrimage.

“We are here because of Christian Pilgrimage which has been in existence over thousands of years ago from the days of Abraham. I want you to go to the holy land with a dual purpose, hope and faith, so that you will be able to provide service for pilgrims”.

The executive secretary commended the medical team to see their national assignment to the holy land as service to humanity, adding that the greatest form of leadership is the one that provides service, advising them to respect the people they are going to serve.

He also tasked the youth to develop a new mentality, a mentality of productivity and creativity adding: “I want us to believe in Nigeria, our nation may be passing through challenges now, but it is an announcement of greatness”, he stated.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Federal Medical Committee who is also the Ex-officio member representing the Federal Ministry of Health on NCPC Board, Dr. David Atuwo stated that the essence of the Federal Medical Team orientation program was to ensure zero mortality of the pilgrims during pilgrimage saying, “it is our principle to ensure the health and safety of our pilgrims”.

He congratulated the Federal Medical Team members for their selection in the medical examinations conducted by NCPC in conjunction with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), assuring the Medical personnel that this year’s pilgrimage would be a hitch free one.

“Our service is a sacred duty so, I implore you to be good Ambassadors of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

About 218 medical personnel participated in the Medical orientation programme.
